About us

Launched in 2018, kea is changing the way restaurants operate. We raised an $11M Series A in August and we're building an amazing team to drive the world’s restaurant commerce. We've experienced 1000% year-over-year revenue growth, and plan to continue that trend by providing even more value for our customers through our technology.

Top 3 reasons to join kea:
🚀 You’ll be a part of a revolutionary project and have an impact on our customer experience through AI technologies.
🗣 If you have the best solution to a problem, your voice will be heard and you'll be rewarded by accruing equity.
🇺🇸 Freedom to work from anywhere in the US (as long as you have a good internet connection and get the job done!)

About the Role

kea is hiring our first designer to join our team to build enterprise software. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the human experience of our platform, as well as for building a design organization that can scale with us. Some of the products you’ll be working with include an enterprise portal for restaurant owners to interact with their AI, a platform for integrating with our customer’s backend ordering systems, and the conversational flow of the AI itself.

We work with a variety of users, from callers to human agents to restaurant owners and operators, and you’ll be crafting the design from each of their perspectives. There’s a large ecosystem of products to build, and almost all of the work will be 0 → 1. There are tens of thousands of restaurants out there that need kea, and we’re building for them.

What your day-to-day looks like

  • Interaction and visual design: define early product concepts, flesh out high-level workflow and micro-interactions of a feature, and translate your vision into design documents using Sketch or Figma.
  • Conversational design: designing in a way that enables tight scoping for machine learning algorithms, ease of use for our less technologically savvy callers, and efficiency for our human agents’ time. We use tools like Lucidchart to mock up our conversational flow.
  • Partner with product and engineering to bridge the gap between user requirements and a product’s look and feel. This often means taking a product requirements doc and turning it into a set of fully-fledged designs to prototype and iterate on.
  • Set the tone for our design organization and get the opportunity to help cast how design works as we scale through ideation, planning, and hiring.
